It is one of our busiest times of year but is a real highlight of our farming calendar.

Come along, visit our shed, and see what lambing is all about…oh and cuddle some baby lambs! All experiences will catch a ride on our Quadbike Trailer Tour.

Full Day Session – 10am-5pm. £195+Fees.

Spend a full day getting hand’s on experience in the lambing shed. 6 Spaces per session. 16 years and over. Includes a 3 course lunch in the Farmhouse.

Please contact us direct if your interested in this experience, dates are subject to availability. This course requires a minimum of 2 people to run.

Half Day Session – 1.30pm to 5pm. £85+Fees.

Get hands on at Lambing time! Spend the afternoon in our lambing shed. You will be able to get involved and help out with some daily tasks and still have time to cuddle the lambs. 6 Spaces per Session. 13years and over. Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. 

Evening Sessions – Tuesday and Thursday Weekdays 4.30pm to 6pm. 1.5 hours. £25+Fees. Under 2’s Free.

Join the farmer in the lambing shed and find out all about lambing while getting to hold the lambs and enjoy a Quadbike Trailer ride through the fields. Suitable for 1 years +

Weekend Sessions – Weekends, 3 sessions available at 11am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm. 1.5 hours. £25+Fees. Under 2’s Free.

A family session suitable for all ages over 1 years old. Lots of time to find out about lambing time, hold some lambs and enjoy a Quadbike Trailer Tour round our fields. Suitable for 1 year +

Guest Relations – Maternity cover Full Time from Mid February – 31st October 2026

We are small family run business who have been farming since the 1750s and for the last 50 years we have diversified into agritourism which is now a large thriving part of our business. We all work really closely together are really excited to be on the lookout for a new member to join the team for maternity cover.

If you are seeking an exciting opportunity to develop your career within a family-run business that specializes in luxury adults only lodges and farm tours, this is the place for you. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about hospitality, customer relations, has good work ethics and is eager to deliver on our high standard of services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the owners in the day-to-day running of the business, with some daily hands-on tasks including hot tub testing, sorting laundry, ordering supplies and from time-to-time you may be asked to support the cleaning role.
  • You’ll be our guest’s main point of contact to answer any of their questions and to think of what they may need, before they even know they need it.
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented and highly organised with a strong commitment to exceeding guest expectations.
  • Maintaining regular updates for our website, social media and accommodation platforms.
  • Dealing with daily enquires via email, telephone or in person.
  • Working 2 weekends out of 4.
  • Hours of work are 9am – 5pm in a 40-hour week in a 2-week rolling rota

The ideal candidate:

  • Customer service experience is essential.
  • Previous experience with booking management systems – supercontrol and/or FareHarbor preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in creating effective Marketing, PR and social media content to promote the business is useful however in house training will be provided.
  • Skilled in efficiently handling guest issues and making sound decisions to ensure exceptional experiences.
  • Team player, with the ability to also be self-motivated and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Can do work ethic, willing to get stuck in and help out where possible.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Good computer skills are preferred.

Recommendations for Local walks whilst staying at The Bonnie Barns

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a casual stroller, Loch Lomond’s rolling hills and rugged peaks are calling. So, lace up your boots, grab a flask of tea, and head for the hills!

Where to Begin

Bonnie Barns is perfectly placed for some of Scotland’s most stunning walks. You don’t need to venture far to find yourself surrounded by panoramic views, fresh mountain air, and the peaceful melodies of nature.

Glenfinlas Reservoir from your Bonnie Barn

Starting from your Bonnie Barn if you are staying with us, follow the road up towards the farm, this scenic walk takes you through rolling farmland and quiet woodland before opening up to the tranquil waters of Glen Finlas Reservoir. The route is relatively gentle, making it ideal for a relaxed afternoon stroll while soaking in the stunning views of the surrounding hills. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, from soaring birds of prey to red deer grazing in the distance as well as our own Cows & Sheep.

A gentle reminder to keep your four legged friends on their lead when exploring the farm.

Conic Hill – A Short but Spectacular Climb
For those looking for a moderate walk with rewarding views, Conic Hill is a perfect choice. Just a short drive from Bonnie Barns, this 361m high hill offers breath taking vistas of Loch Lomond and its scattered islands. It’s part of the West Highland Way, so you’ll likely meet fellow walkers en route. The path is well-trodden, and while there’s a steep section near the top, the view is worth every step. Once completed you can head back to your Hot Tub and admire the hill you just completed across the Loch as the picture above shows.

Lunch Spot: The Oak Tree Inn in Balmaha is a fantastic place to refuel with delicious homemade food and a refreshing drink.

Distance: 4.5 km (round trip)

Duration: 2–3 hours

Conic Hill Guide

Ben Lomond – The Classic Munro
For the adventurous, Ben Lomond stands tall at 974m, proudly claiming its title as the most southerly Munro. The ascent is straightforward but challenging, rewarding climbers with a summit panorama that will steal your breath away (if the hike hasn’t already!). On a clear day, you can see across the Trossachs and beyond.

Lunch Spot: Perch Café in Balmaha, homemade delicious food, dog friendly and a nice atmosphere.

Distance: 12 km (round trip)

Duration: 5–6 hours

Ben Lomond Guide

Luss Hills – Hidden Gems
If you prefer quieter trails, the Luss Hills offer a network of paths that wind through heather-clad slopes and hidden lochans. Beinn Dubh and Mid Hill make a fantastic circular walk, with stunning views back towards Loch Lomond’s glistening waters.

Pancake Day is here, and what better way to celebrate than with a traditional farm recipe passed down through generations? Straight from the heart of the countryside, Anne’s Famous Pancakes have been a staple for hungry farmhands and visitors alike. Whether you’re flipping them on a farmhouse griddle or your kitchen stove, these pancakes promise fluffy perfection and a taste of tradition.

The Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz plain flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 level teaspoon salt

  • 3 tablespoons caster sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • Lard, for greasing

Method:

  1. Heat your griddle on a fast ring at No. 5.

  2. Prepare a wire cooling tray and place a thin dish towel over it.

  3. Sift the dry ingredients into a large bowl.

  4. Make a well in the centre, crack in the eggs, and pour in the milk.

  5. Stir with a dessert spoon, then beat well until the mixture is thick and creamy.

  6. Lightly grease the griddle with lard, wiping it clean with kitchen roll as needed.

  7. Place 4 dessert spoons separately of pancake mixture onto the griddle.

  8. Cook for 1 minute, then turn with a spatula and cook the second side for another minute.

  9. Remove and place between the dish towel on the cooling tray to keep warm.

  10. Repeat until the mixture is finished, then serve with fresh butter, jam, or syrup!
